On June 11, 2018, at approximately 12:48 a.m., a Liberty County sheriff’s deputy made a routine traffic stop on a vehicle on US 90 in Liberty. The vehicle reportedly had defective equipment.
A check with the LCSO dispatcher showed that the vehicle did not have a valid registration. The driver was identified as Landon Lamar Fontenot, white male, 36. The LCSO dispatcher advised the deputy that Fontenot’s driver’s license was suspended. Fontenot was arrested for Driving While License Invalid.
During the inventory of the vehicle, the deputy reportedly found several bags of a crystal-like substance believed to be Methamphetamine. The crystal-like substance weighed approximately 74 grams. Fontenot was transported to the Liberty County Jail without incident. He was charged with:
1. Possession of a Controlled Substance, PG-1, >4g<200g – Second Degree Felony
2. Driving While License Suspended – Class C Misdemeanor
