DPS says expect traffic delays on SH 321 and US 59 in Liberty County Wednesday

The Texas Department of Public Safety will have SH 321 and the southbound lane of US 59 down to one lane of traffic for several hours Wednesday while troopers conduct accident reconstructions related to two separate fatal crashes that took place this year.

According to DPS Sgt. Rob Willoughby, traffic delays begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, at SH 321 near CR 2243, and at 1 p.m., in the southbound lanes of US 59 near Morgan Cemetery Road. Motorists should expect delays and look for alternate routes or delay travel, if possible.

The accident reconstruction at SH 321 is regarding a five-vehicle crash on July 20, 2018, that claimed the life of 41-year-old Jeremy Gorney, of Porter, and sent four others to area hospitals.

The reconstruction on US 59 is for a crash that took place on Aug. 28 and claimed the life of a 5-year-old girl from Splendora.
