Johnnie Robert (Bob) Williams

Johnnie Robert (Bob) Williams, of Anahuac, Texas, passed away on November 19, 2018. He was born on November 5, 1946 in Stephensville, Texas to Johnnie and Iona Williams. They moved to Winnie in 1959. Bob was a graduate of East Chambers High School, Class of 1965. He attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma. During this time, he met Gay Baker and was also drafted into the Army. Bob and Gay married in 1967, then in March of 1968, he left for Vietnam. After the Army, Bob worked for Thornton Marine Service as a boat captain for many years. Afterwards he worked for Cash America Pawn until retiring in October of 2014.

Bob had many interests. Among his hobbies were gardening, fishing and woodworking. He was a charter member of Sons of the Confederate Camp 2107 and a member of the American Legion Post 0104 in Anahuac.

He loved his family and his grandchildren will always remember him for his corny jokes, which they loved. They thought he knew everything because he was a walking encyclopedia of facts or trivia.

Bob was preceded in death by his father Johnnie H. Williams; his son Nathan Dewayne Williams; his sister Louise Jay; his brother-in-law Andy Thornton; his mother-in-law Shurrel Baker; and his brother-in-law Kenneth Baker. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5pm until 7pm on Friday, November 23, 2018 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main Street in Anahuac.
