After a seven-month disappearance, a Coldspring man has reemerged and is reunited with his family, authorities say.
Preston Stevens, 23, disappeared on June 25, 2018, after leaving his grandparents’ home in Coldspring. His truck and keys were discovered but there was no sign of Stevens.
His disappearance prompted an investigation by the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office and a search by 1st Priority Search and Recovery.
On Friday, Feb. 9, Stevens reappeared and a photo of his reunion with family members was posted to a missing person website.
“We found out he was back through a Facebook post,” said Capt. Joe Schultea Jr., spokesperson for the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office. “He is alive and well. We’ve had a face-to-face meeting with him. He is home.”
Schultea said the investigation into Stevens’ disappearance will continue.
“At the end of the day, our investigation is continuing. Our detectives need to do an interview with him. Once we have more information to share, we will pass it along,” Schultea said.
