Tonya Kay “Arnold” Boatman

Tonya Kay “Arnold” Boatman, born Sept. 13, 1966, in Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away March 26, 2019 in Kingwood, Texas, at the age of 52.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David Larkin Boatman, father, Billy Sr Arnold, and stepfather, Buddy King. She is survived by her mother, Frances King; four children: Cody Arnold and wife, Katharine Arnold, Ashley Arnold, Amber Thomas, and Jessica Petters; brother, Billy Arnold; and sister, Lisa Jenkins. Tonya also had many aunts, nieces, nephews and grandchildren whom she loved.

Before creating Bluebonnet News in 2018, Vanesa Brashier was a community editor for the Houston Chronicle/Houston Community Newspapers. During part of her 12 years at the newspapers, she was assigned as the digital editor and managing editor for the Humble Observer, Kingwood Observer, East Montgomery County Observer and the Lake Houston Observer, and the editor of the Dayton News, Cleveland Advocate and Eastex Advocate. Over the years, she has earned more than two dozen writing awards, including Journalist of the Year.
