Elderly man’s body found in Lake Grenada in south Liberty County

The body of a 73-year-old man was found Tuesday, May 7, around 1:30 p.m., floating in Lake Grenada in the Moss Bluff area of south Liberty County, authorities say.

“A very preliminary investigation at this early stage by the sheriff’s investigators indicates that 73-year-old Jack Wilmer Eatmon, who lives on CR 133 North, may have walked to the rear of his property and, for some unknown reason, either slipped or fell into the lake,” said Capt. Ken DeFoor in an emailed statement.

Liberty County Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Stephen Hebert conducted the on-scene inquest and ordered an autopsy. The investigation is continuing at this time.
