The body of a woman was found around 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, in a wooded area off of FM 2666 in Shepherd, according to Capt. Joe Schultea Jr., spokesperson for the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office.
Her body was discovered by people walking through the woods and they alerted authorities, Schultea said.
The body was transported to the Southeast Texas Forensics Center in Beaumont for autopsy and identification. A detective with the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office will be working on getting the female identified and her family notified today.
After notification of her next of kin, an update will be posted.
