Skull found in Moss Bluff area

Family and friends of a missing Moss Bluff man were searching a wooded area on Wednesday when they came across bones that appear to be human, authorities say.

According to Investigator Robert Dunn with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, a skull and some other bones have been collected and will be sent to the medical examiner’s office in Beaumont for DNA testing. Dunn could not speculate about the identity of the person whose bones were found, adding that DNA testing will determine if the bones belong to a male or female.

Liberty County sheriff’s investigators are combing the wooded area on Thursday. The investigation is ongoing.
