Linda Chapman, the civil process coordinator for the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, is the September 2019 Employee of the Month for the sheriff’s office. Chapman has worked for LCSO since February 2016.
“One might even recall that it was this same month last year that Chapman was honored with this same monthly award, which only reinforces the aspect of ‘consistency’ and outstanding leadership qualities,” said Capt. Ken DeFoor, LCSO spokesperson.
Chapman heads up the division, which is probably the least understood division within the Sheriff’s Office, as her function is strictly civil actions and not criminal in nature. Since taking over this very active division in 2016, the workload has more than doubled.
From October 2018 to August 2019, there were more than 1,700 various papers received and served by this unit that is composed of two civilian employees and two deputies who actually serve the papers. This workload is expected to double again within another year due to the population explosion of Liberty County.
Serving Citations, Notices of Hearings, Order of Sales, Writs of Executions and an assortment of other papers is a never-ending job as are Writs of Attachments, which puts the entire unit on a 24/7 operational basis as it involves child custody disputes. In this respect there are no lunch breaks and entails working on weekends and holidays if called upon to do so.
“It is this type of assignment dedication and high work standards that once again brings Linda Chapman to the forefront of the Sheriff’s workforce and gives both the community and Chapman’s fellow co-workers the opportunity to extend a well-deserved congratulations to [her] for being selected as the Employee of the Month for September 2019,” DeFoor said.
