A routine traffic stop on the 400 block of W. Southline in Cleveland on Sept. 8 resulted in a long list of criminal charges against one woman, Kristen Marie Martin, 33.
Her arrest by Cleveland Police Officer Patrick Neal came after Neal pulled over Martin’s vehicle for having an expired registration and no front license plate.
According to Capt. Scott Felts, a spokesperson for Cleveland Police Department, the vehicle’s registration had expired years earlier in 2014 and Martin was driving without liability insurance.
During the traffic stop, Neal conducted a vehicle inventory that reportedly discovered baggies containing methamphetamines, marijuana, 58 pills of Ecstasy, four Oxycodone hydrochloride pills, 22 hydrocodone pills, 127 Adderall pills, six dextroamphetamine tablets, one Clonazepam pill, 53 Alprazolam pills, one bottle of Promethazine with codeine, nine Temazepam pills and multiple empty baggies and scales that can be used to weigh and sell the illegal narcotics.
As a result of the traffic stop, Martin is charged with:
- Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 2, more than 4 grams but less than 400 grams;
- Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 2, more than 4 grams but less than 400 grams;
- Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 2, more than 4 grams but less than 400 grams;
- Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1, more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams;
- Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 2, more than 4 grams but less than 400 grams;
- Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1, more than 1 gram but less than 4 grams;
- Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1, more than 1 gram but less than 4 grams;
- Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 3/4, more than 28 grams but less than 200 grams;
- Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 3/4, less than 28 grams;
- Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 3/4, less than 28 grams;
- Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 3/4 less than 28 grams;
- and Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 3/4, less than 28 grams
Martin is being held in the Liberty County Jail on bonds totaling $120,000 – $10,000 per charge.
Felts said the number of charges stemming from one arrest is unusual.
“I have been doing [law enforcement work] for 22 years and have never seen anyone charged with 12 felonies on one traffic stop. It was like she was a one-stop-shop for illegal drugs. Officer Neal did a great job,” Felts said.
I dont think sticking one girl with 12 felonies for drugs is going to help ANYBODY.. She obviously needs help figuring out how to live.
Feed her to the hungry dogs in prison…lots of releasable infraction tension to work out!

As I read these responses I’m stunned at what people’s thoughts are…. So many of you want to argue with the reason the officer stopped her… what’s wrong with you!? She’s at the very least a drug mule… and looking at her she’s using too. It’s sad, she has ruined her life and what she’s been doing has added to the ruin of others lives I’m sure. She needs to go to jail and she needs help and prayers. But she doesn’t need anyone to figure out how she can get out of the charges. That’s part of what’s wrong with this country…folks don’t think there should be consequences.
And BTW…you are required to have a front plate in Texas.

If I had to guess, the fact that her plates expired in 2014, probably had more to do with the traffic stop, than the lack of a front one did.
She’ll get the help she needs now, and more of that garbage off the street.

depends on the wording in the report. if she was stopped for no front plate initially and then the cop ran what he had on her 2nd she will beat the case I am 0retty sure now if it’s worded the other way around she will probably get ten yrs approx.
Me too! $600 to insure, bring registration up-to-date and get a new tab for your license plate. And yet you would rather risk $300,000 worth of drugs against getting this thing away from looking like a big red neon throbbing thumb out there in traffic!
Drugs should be legal, not expired tags and no insurance.

You’re faulting the police for stopping and arresting this young lady for clearly breaking multiple laws in a way that can be described as blatantly stupid and reckless?
So where do drawl the line? When do police have a duty to perform and a job to do? When the crime effects you and your family? Well here’s a bit of insight for you, everything she was doing effects our whole community! And I’m sure someone as clearly stupid as she is can be trusted to not drag others down to save her own ass. She’ll likely walk away with probation and others will go to jail for her careless stupidity. And not just this time, once she learns to play the system it will happen again and again… poor girl. Look we all like to have a good time and party. I know I do but I don’t any more because of dumb people just like her!
