An open letter to our citizens,
At this sobering time of a tremendous number of new COVID-19 cases, we, being the county judge of Liberty County and the mayors of Cleveland, Dayton and Liberty, are requesting that our citizens make every effort to conduct themselves in a manner that is in compliance with CDC pronouncements and consistent with all other health and safety protocols.
Specifically, we urge you to exhibit behavior that follows these guidelines:
- When in a public gather or public space, wear a mask that covers your mouth and nose.
- Practice social distancing by keeping six feet of distance between you and others.
- Wash your hands often using warm water and an antibacterial soap. Thoroughly scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds.
- Strongly consider taking an approved vaccine once it is made available to the general public.
We very much wish for all of you to be safe and free from this deadly virus and, by following the four suggestions outlined above, you will be providing yourself and those around you with a significant amount of protection.

Good luck with your request,the citizens know what to do but they don’t do the right thing, because the ones doing the requesting went maskless at Christmas parades all over town. No wonder the court house and DA offices are full of covid cases. Put yourself in check first.
Mankind was not meant to live with a rag covered face.
We have existed for thousands of years without it.
I’m not doubting there being a virus. Terrible for some ( we all know that means majority with pre existing conditions) and no symptoms at all for others.
If you have concerns and want to wear a mask then do so. If someone chooses not to wear a mask and that bothers you then stay away from them.
Your choice to wear a mask should relive your concerns, if you have them. Making me wear a mask so that you feel better is not your right.

A lack of empathy for others is an indicator of a psychopathology and an excellent reason to ostracize that individual from society.
No one can make anyone do anything, your comment stay away from them” we co-exist together BB. And don’t get caught up on that pre-existing conditions, that’s true but perfectly healthy people are in their graves to prove it. BB just stopping at a red light can determine whether you are injured or someone else,I’m not mad at you but I’m concerned about you
Thanks, but no need to be concerned about me. And there are those in power that would love nothing more than to make you and I wear a mask indefinitely. Someone else’s fears should not dictate what the rest of us have to do.

So I guess you won’t be wearing a mask? Anyway there are those in power that would advocate for us not to wear a mask, that’s foolish and dangerous
The messaging of this letter is disappointing. We’ve seen where “requesting” or “urging” citizens to follow guidelines has gotten us thus far. Leaders set the tone for their cities/counties and help tailor habits of heart and of mind. They can appeal to the best in our people or the worst; they can call for action or live with inaction. What is it going to take for our leaders to answer their call to action and enforce mask mandates and restrict gatherings??

Where has humanity gone. To those who refuse to wear a mask you are showing the community how little you care about the well being of the community. I try to do my shopping with local businesses but as soon as I see that they themselves are not wearing a mask I leave. The virus is airborne so if both parties are not wearing a mask it does no good. We could ALL go about our daily lives if everyone cared enough about the well being of others to do their part. You can call me a sheep if you want but those who refuse to wear the mask are the wolves.
