Pamela Smith of Hull is announcing her candidacy as a Republican candidate for the position of Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace for Liberty County.
This comes as no surprise to those that know her, as she is a fair-minded person who embodies the concepts of truth and equality,” according to her announcement.
“The citizens of Liberty County deserve to be treated fairly and with respect in all situations, especially at times such as a death in the family or while in court for minor offenses such as a JP will handle,” Smith said.
Smith currently is the only Republican candidate signed up for the position. If she wins the Republican primary election in March, she will face off against Democratic incumbent Ronnie Davis in the general election in November 2022.

I am hearing that this election is drawing a LOT of attention and discussion amongst the residents. Just hope that they vote after doing their research and meeting the candidates, if possible. My vote is for Smith.

For those of you that do not know me, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, and to tell you why I am seeking to serve you as your next Justice of the Peace.
I am a resident of Hull, I married a local man a decade ago and moved from Louisiana. My children attended school at the three campuses in Hull, Daisetta, and Raywood.
As a small business owner/manager, I have grown my company to operate in 2 states (Texas and Louisiana) operating in dozens of cities in Texas and 10 in Louisiana. Learning to deal with the various city taxes and tax entities in each area has been challenging, but I like a challenge. Before coming here from Lake Charles, I was in the Restaurant business in Lake Charles, Vancouver, Northern Washington State and worked as a cook at a resort there right on the Canadian border.
As an Election Judge during election season, many of you know me from being at the polls when you voted, either in Early voting or on Election day.
I have been elected by the people of Liberty County to represent them at each County Republican Convention since 2014, as well as to be a DELEGATE to the STATE Convention for the same years. In that capacity, I have worked diligently to build the Republican Party platform, voted and spoke on or against the issues as needed to push forward to Congress the bills that affect each of us daily.
I am an active Republican that believes in lower taxes, less government, less infringement on our rights, and more freedom to pursue those rights.
My husband and I were extremely active in pushing for gun rights in Texas in 2013-2014 to get open carry of handguns legalized. I was nick-named “Mrs. Open Carry Texas” by the press on a radio interview and was featured in newspapers from Shreveport to Beaumont, as well as the Liberty Vindicator.
I am the Director of the Ladies Auxiliary Department of Lifepoint Church in Daisetta, with the duties of managing fund-raisers, coordinating dinners at Church functions as well as making the arrangements to schedule food preparation for funerals and other such events.
So…. enough of my history…..WHY do I want to be your JP? Why now? Simply because I am the best choice? Because I am needing a job?
THE answer is NO to all of the questions. The reason that I am in this campaign, is that East Liberty County NEEDS to have someone holding that office to be FAIR AND IMPARTIAL. The citizens deserve nothing less than to have someone that believes in EQUAL RIGHTS and the CONSTITUTION.
I hold NO GRUDGES against anyone, nor do I have ANY FAVORS owed to ANYONE, and I promise to remain that kind of JP after I assume office. I am NOT seeking revenge on anyone for something that happened years ago, or showing leniency to people that I need to repay for helping me in the past! My background in dealing with the public, employees, and my customers, proves that I am a level-headed, even-tempered person that will bring Justice for All, not be easy on those that are my friends, and be harsh on those that are not. I want to represent the Citizens at all levels, and be the calm, caring, compassionate person that a JP needs to be at those times when a family has suffered the loss of a loved one.
