An 18-year-old Shepherd resident was killed around 7:15 a.m. Saturday in a single-vehicle crash on FM 163 in Tarkington.
According to Sgt. Rob Willoughby, supervisor of the Liberty County office for the Texas Department of Public Safety, the young lady from Shepherd, identified as Alanna Rene Simmons, was traveling northbound on FM 163 in a 2013 Chevy Silverado when her vehicle left the roadway to the east. She attempted to correct and jerked the wheel too hard to the left.
“She left the roadway to the left and rolled the vehicle numerous times. She was ejected out of the vehicle and was pronounced dead on scene by Pct. 5 Justice of the Peace Wade Brown,” Willoughby said.
No autopsy was ordered. Simmons’ body was transported to Neal Funeral Home in Cleveland.
The victim’s father was notified.
In an effort to highlight the importance of wearing seatbelts, Willoughby said, “It’s the easiest thing to do to protect yourself while driving. While we can’t say for certain that it would have made a difference in this crash, wearing a seatbelt can prevent tragedies. People are not strong enough to withstand the force of a crash and we need seatbelts to hold us in place in the event of an accident.”
The accident investigator is Trooper Koen.
Why would an autopsy not be ordered? Seems it could be definitive in determining an underlying cause for the accident.
I think the cause of death is pretty obvious
Yes it could have been a medical emergency as a farther i would pay for one

Ur right on that, ppl jst need to keep their thoughts to them selves & think before they speak, if they wasn’t there then they dont knw, & before they speak they need to consider her mother & family & think about how its gonna affect them.. ppl r so quick to judge wen they dont knw the full story. They need to put themselves n ur shoes & think about how u feel cause thats something that tare’s a mother apart it doesn’t need any more help doin that.. my ❤️ goes out to u & ur family & may God ease ur pain. I knw something like that will never stop hurtn u cause thats the hardest thing a mother can face, or will ever do, i knw hearing ppl say (so srry for ur loss) doesn’t help any & u get tired of hearing that & doesn’t ease ur pain at all but my ❤️ goes out to u as a mother of 4 myself & cant imagine how ur feeln right now but have a pretty good idea…jst knw she’s still wit u even tho u cant see or touch her but shes still there i seen the picture of her & she was so beautiful & u could see a bright light shining n her eyes, she reminded me of my daughter thats jst a few yrs older than her & she has the same light n hers i couldn’t imagine losing her cause shes the light n my ❤️ no mother should ever have to suffer wit the pain of losing a child… Sending 🙏 to u & ur love ones..

Oh and also Mr.Willoughby I think seat belts should be optional……I have had friends get killed car accidents that probably would have made it out alive had it not been for them wearing their seat belt.
And I’ve had friends get killed in car accidents that if they’d been wearing their seatbelts then they’d probably still be with today.
Far more people die in car accidents from NOT wearing a seat belt than from wearing one.
