Jerome R. “Jerry” Heling

Jerome R. “Jerry” Heling, 99, of Dayton, TX, formerly of Sheboygan, passed away at home on September 4, 2018. Jerry was born to the late Roland and Rose (Grams) Heling on January 18, 1919 in Sheboygan, WI. He attended Central High School and after he retired went back to earn his GED. Jerry was enlisted in the U.S. Army in early 1941 and served in the South Pacific. He was sent home from New Guinea in November 1944 and was discharged on July 14, 1945. Jerry served in the 32nd Army Division 127th Regimen 3rd Battalion Headquarters Company.  Jerry was united in marriage to Lila Meyer on March 10, 1945 when he returned from overseas. Jerry worked for the Sheboygan Baking Company and later at Verifine Dairy delivering milk to people’s homes. He was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, from 1954 to 2018. In his retirement he enjoyed golfing and bowling.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Wackman; daughter-in-law, Rosie (Dave) Baranczyk; three grandsons, Matthew (Vicki) Heling, Michael (Katie) Heling and Thomas (Mandi) Heling; step-granddaughter, Stephanie (Cale) Fahrenholtz; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Elroy Heling as well as nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Lila, parents, and son Rodney.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Entombment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
