Benny J. Herford

Benny J. Herford, 90, of Sour Lake, passed away on July 8, 2019, surrounded by family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, compassionate brother, and a helpful friend. He continued to be a hard worker to the very end of his life. He never left a project unfinished. His life reflected this virtue in every way. He was born to George & Winnie Herford in Batson, Texas, on December 5, 1928. He retired from Sun Pipeline in Sour Lake as a district superintendent and was a member of First Baptist Church of Sour Lake.

His Civic activities included Lions club, Lower Neches Valley Water Conversation Authority, Hardin-Jefferson school board, Sour Lake City Council and Treasurer of the Sour Lake volunteer fire department. Recently he was honored with Old Timer of the year by the Sour Lake by the Sour Lake Chamber of Commerce:
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Imogene Herford his parents, several siblings, and 2 grandsons.

He is survived by his son Jay & daughter in law Skyla Herford (Sour Lake), daughter Belinda & son in Law Don King(Longview), grandchildren Cody Herford (Sour Lake), Ashley King (Bedford) Greg King & wife Kristin (Edmond, OK) with great-grandsons Braden & Ryan.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday July 11, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Guedry cemetery in Batson, with Reverend Bill Fabriguze and Dr. Duane Kelly officiating.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Wednesday July 10, 2019, from 6:00P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Chapel. To send flowers to the family of Benny Joseph Herford , please visit Tribute Store.
