Liberty County constables complete leadership training

Five of the Liberty County’s six constables recently attended the Texas Constables Leadership College (TCLC) offered by the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT) at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.

During the five-day, continuing education course, the constables were updated on laws pertaining to law enforcement that were recently passed by the Texas Legislature and how to improve their leadership qualities.

Training topics also included human resources, professionalism, ethics, courthouse security and civil process.

The course is a requirement for constables by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). There were 60-plus constables from across the state in attendance.

Representing Liberty County were Pct. 1 Constable Justin Johnson, Pct. 2 Constable Les Hulsey, Pct. 3 Constable Mark “Maddog” Davison, Pct. 4 Constable Robbie Thornton and Pct. 5 Constable David Hunter.
