Authorities executed a search warrant Thursday at a property on the 700 block of N. Cherry Creek Road in Shepherd. The search was related to the disappearance of 56-year-old Kirk Buik, who has not been seen by family and friends for more than a month.

Texas Ranger Ryan Clendennen is leading the search and was assisted by other Texas Rangers, state police and members of the K-9 unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Texas Ranger Ryan Clendennen (holding evidence collection bags) questions a resident of a property on the 700 block of N. Cherry Creek Road in Shepherd about the disappearance of 56-year-old Kirk Buik.

The search appeared to center on the property of an acquaintance of Buik’s where makeshift homes, camper trailers, vehicles and debris are scattered all around. Authorities began the search Thursday morning and wrapped up around 2 p.m., exiting the property carrying shovels. Clendennen left the site with several evidence collection bags, but he would not say what, if anything, was found on the property.
