Dayton tennis team to finish district season Tuesday in Nederland

The Dayton High School tennis team traveled to Port Neches-Groves this past Tuesday.  Playing through a few injuries, the team battled hard, losing to a solid PNG team 12-7.

On Saturday, Oct. 5, the team traveled to the PA Memorial, minus a couple of key starters, who were out due to injuries.

“Our kids could have given up, knowing how much our missing players affected us, and experiencing a couple more during today’s match, but they battled through to the last couple individual matches,” said Coach Joshua Moore. “However, we fell short in an 11-8 nail biter, with almost every match, guys and girls being extremely close.”

Giovanny Gonzalez and Chad Griffen, due to injuries on the team, were bumped up to #1 doubles and 2/3 singles, respectively, and continued their winning ways.  They are both 15-3 on the year.  The team finishes its district season on Tuesday at Nederland.
