Train derailment in north Liberty County under investigation

Nine rail cars for BNSF Railroad were overturned around 4:50 a.m. Friday in the Romayor area of north Liberty County.

A Burlington Northern Santa Fe trail derailed around 4:49 a.m. Friday, sending nine rail cars off the tracks with some rail cars overturning.

The derailment took place in the Romayor area along FM 787 near CR 2148.

Lena Kent, a BNSF spokesperson, said no injuries were reported. The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
