Share Your Christmas holds toy drive to spread holiday cheer

Paulette Wyatt, Janie Woods, Lechelle Davis, Carolyn Butler, Dinah Cochran, Latonya Eleby and Yolanda Davis display some of the toys that were donated on Nov. 9 at the toy drive for Share Your Christmas.

Cleveland-based non-profit Share Your Christmas hosted a toy drive on Nov. 9 as organizers prepare for the big giveaway on Saturday, Dec. 21. Last year, Share Your Christmas helped 345 children through donations and is planning for just as many children this year, according to the organization’s founder Dinah Cochran.

“A lot of our donations come from people at the Liberty County Courthouse, Martin-Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram, Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, The Spot, Performance Trucking, Courtney Lee and other people in the community,” Cochran said. “Our biggest donation comes from Tammy and John Hart with Hart RV and Boat Storage. The Harts have a tailgate party on their house in Fostoria every year to raise money for our event.”

Children who are picked for the toy giveaway are selected by Cochran and her team of supporters with the help of recommendations from community residents.
