Christmas comes to Dayton ISD Admin Building

Director of Personnel Services Stacey Gatlin got an extra hug from her own kindergarten daughter, Kate, as she was leaving the Administration Building.

Approximately 360 Kindergarteners from the Kimmie E. Brown Elementary School, Dr. E.R. Richter Elementary School, and Stephen F. Austin Elementary School descended upon the Will O. Moore, Jr. Administration Building on Thursday, Dec. 5.

They came bearing gifts in the form of handmade Christmas ornaments. As they came through the lobby, the students hung their ornaments on the Administration Building’s Christmas tree.

The excited students were lead into the Board Room for pattern games of ‘follow the leader’ with Superintendent Dr. Jessica Johnson. The kindergarten students had the opportunity to talk about what was on their Christmas list.

Dr. Johnson, with the help of Assistant Superintendent of Support Services Hector Herrera and Federal Programs Coordinator Michael Dyer, led the children in several Christmas songs ending with a friendly competition between the boys and the girls as they sang ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’.

The last stop for the students ended with a tour through the kitchen. The ladies of the Administration Building passed out cookies to each of the children. Associate Superintendent Tami Pierce looks forward to this annual event.

“The look of excitement on each of their faces just says it all. This day is one of our favorite days of the year for our entire Administration Building,” said Johnson.
