Glynn David Ray

David Ray, 60, born on March 15, 1963, peacefully passed away on January 29, 2024. He was a 1982 graduate of Anahuac High School.

David was a devoted husband to his late wife, Laura Ray, who passed away on August 17, 2021. Together, they shared a love that spanned decades, starting right after high school. They dedicated many years to serving the Lord and providing a nurturing home to numerous foster children.

David’s professional journey led him to serve as the Ranch Manager at Boy’s and Girl’s Harbor in Laporte, TX, where he mentored and taught youth the value of hard work and responsibility. Later, he and Laura founded Ray’s Ranch Boy’s Home in Hankamer, TX, where they raised their three children and continued to impact young lives.

A true cowboy at heart, David found joy in spending time with his grandchildren and had a passion for antiques and motorcycles. He approached life with a no-filter, no-sugar-coating attitude, embodying honesty and hard work. He was known for his dedication to his family and his unwavering faith in God.

David will be deeply missed by his mother, Carol Ray; sister, Denna Watkins (sons James and Jake Watkins); brother, Jimmy Ray (wife Promise Ray); children, David Ray (Sammie Ray), Maci Whittington (husband Edward Whittington), and Frankie Ray; grandchildren, Peyton Lewis, Kyilee Whittington, Parker Whittington, David James Ray, and Jaxon Ray. David had many foster siblings, whom he loved like his own.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Laura Ray; father, Jim Ray; and brother, Charlie Ray.

David’s legacy of love, faith, and resilience will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Though he has bid farewell to this world, his spirit remains alive in the cherished memories of his loved ones.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Hillside Church, 12319 TX-146, Mont Belvieu, Texas, with Pastor Mark Trice officiating.
