Liberty man killed in hit-and-run accident

A 42-year-old Liberty man, Mike Lee Glenn Jr., died Thursday night, Feb. 9, following a hit-and-run accident near his home on FM 2830.

According to Sgt. Rob Willoughby, supervisor for the Texas Department of Public Safety in Liberty County, Glenn was found lying in a ditch on FM 2830 by a passerby around 10:22 p.m.

“A helicopter was called to transport him to a trauma center but they had to land immediately after takeoff due to the weather. Mr. Glenn was taken by ground ambulance to Kingwood Hospital where he was later pronounced dead,” Willoughby said.

Medics on the scene of the accident performed CPR on Glenn for an extended period of time before he was transported, so his condition was already grave by the time he was found, Willoughby added.

Glenn’s next of kin has been notified, Willoughby said, and the accident will continue to be investigated. The trooper who investigated the crash scene was Trooper John Broadway.
