In loving memory of Norene Mae Zeimetz, 76, of Dayton, Texas, who peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at her son’s home surrounded by her devoted family. Norene was born on September 27, 1947, in Davenport, Iowa, to the late David Arland and Arlene Faye McGlaughlin Grigsby. Over the years, she made her home in Baytown, Pasadena, La Porte, and Deer Park before settling in Dayton, Texas.
Throughout her career, Norene worked as a waitress at various establishments, including the former Gilley’ss Kettle, Kelly’s, and Denny’s. She was known for her sweet demeanor but also her fiery, redheaded temper. Norene was a caring, loving, and forgiving soul with a heart as vast as the Texas sky. She was fiercely protective of her children and would do anything to ensure their happiness and safety.
Norene had a passion for fashion and enjoyed dancing, visiting casinos, and had a passion for animals. She had a knack for finding joy in the simple things, often playing every gas station slot machine she encountered. Norene delighted in shopping with her children, especially scouring clearance racks and thrift stores for the perfect finds.
Norene was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alan Zeimetz; children Nora Kay Cobb; and Susan D. Riddick; siblings Sherry Riddick, and David Grigsby Jr.; grandchildren Galen Peto, and Stephanie Bailey; and great-granddaughter Michelle Partain.
Norene leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be cherished by her children: Jeremy Partain and wife Judy, Velma Loughary and husband Terry, Paula Roberts and husband Earl Kuhn, Ketrina Seaton and husband Carl Higgins, Stacey Dalahite, and Sandee Lewis. She will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Dana, Angel, Brandon, Jaime, Ray, Hannah, Jeremy, Travis, Jessica, Robert Jr., Kayla, Chloe, Caleb, Charles, James, Alison, Joseph, Austin, and Em Breana.
Norene will be deeply missed and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. May her vibrant spirit and boundless love continue to shine bright in the hearts of those she touched.
Following Norene’s wishes, she will be cremated, honoring her desire to be remembered as the loving, funny, and kind spirit that she was. Though her physical presence may be gone, her laughter, warmth, and love will forever echo in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. May we find solace in our shared memories and take comfort in knowing that Norene’s legacy of love will endure for generations to come.
