Cleveland Municipal Court, PD offering amnesty program to clear outstanding Class C cases

Do you have an outstanding violation/unresolved case in the City of Cleveland?

The Cleveland Municipal Court and Cleveland Police Department have joined forces with law enforcement agencies and courts statewide participating in the 2024 Texas Case Resolution Campaign beginning March 2. Agencies will step up efforts to actively resolve outstanding cases beginning March 2.

The campaign is designed to target thousands of defendants with outstanding cases in participating jurisdictions including numerous county, justices of the peace and municipal courts.

Under Texas Law, individuals appearing before a court and making a good faith effort to resolve outstanding Class C cases are afforded safe harbor and not subject to arrest. Additionally, if a judgment is rendered against an individual who is unable to pay the judgment, the individual may request a judge to assess their ability to pay and offer alternative means to satisfy the judgment.

Cleveland Municipal Court will be offering a Fresh Start Spring Amnesty Program from March 2-25, 2024. Any defendant who voluntarily appears at any Municipal Court location during the amnesty period will be permitted to resolve all of their eligible delinquent class C citations, including Failure to Appear (FTA) cases, and will not be subject to arrest.

The program will offer a discounted rate on delinquent cases that are in warrant. Full payment will be required to take advantage of the discounted rate. No payment plans will be available for this short time offer.

Individuals with outstanding cases are encouraged to contact the Court to voluntarily resolve their cases before being compelled to appear in Court.

For more information, contact Cleveland Municipal Court at 281-592-5639 or stop by the court at 226 Peach Ave., Cleveland.
