
Donald Earl Oakley, 80 years young, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, February 24, 2024. Donald was born January 20, 1944, in New Caney, Texas, the son of the late Ernest Newton Oakley and Sadie Sarah Oakley. Donald loved playing golf, fishing, hunting, going frogging, and listening to music.
He was a pilot, an awarded marksman, a master mechanic, and engineer; there wasn’t anything he couldn’t build or fix. He was a great cook who enjoyed gatherings with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who love him. Donald was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Oakley and Dale Oakley, and his sister, Eva Oakley Ballard.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 27 years, Debra Oakley; three children, Cary Rodriguez, Jamie McMenomy, Derek Garner and wife Amber; his brother Charles Oakley and wife Barbara; his sister, Betty Bolton and husband Thomas; three grandchildren, Kirra “Cootie Pie” McMenomy, Marley Garner, and Liam Garner; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and treasured friends.
Visitation for Donald will be held at Neal Funeral Home on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m. Internment will immediately follow at White Oak Cemetery. Pastor Lewis Clark will be officiating the services.
