Linella Steadham

Linella Steadham, 83, of Old River Winfree, Texas, peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 24, 1940, in Cleveland, Texas, to the late J.D. and Freida Williams Hansbro. Linella graduated from Tarkington High School in Tarkington, Texas, with the class of 1958 and briefly studied at Houston State University.

A longtime member of the Church of Christ, Linella cherished her faith and found joy in serving her community. She had a passion for cooking and delighted in gathering friends and family around her table for meals and games of cards and dominoes. Linella’s love for sports led her to coach a little dribblers basketball team; she relished her outings to the First Mondays Flea Market in Canton, Texas, and loved trips to the casino and concerts.

In the late 70s and early 80s, Linella was an active member of a sewing club with many of her girlfriends. She held various positions throughout her career, including office work for the family business, Steadhan Trucking, managing Subway in Mont Belvieu, and working at the Mont Belvieu Lumber yard, where she met her beloved husband, J.F. Steadham. She also worked at Western Auto in Mont Belvieu.

Linella was known for her vibrant personality, thoughtfulness, and strong opinions. She had a colorful spirit, a sharp wit, and an unwavering love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Linella was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Larry Hansbro. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 64 years, J.F. Steadham; her children, Carrie Steadham of Old River Winfree, Larry Steadham and wife Kim of Old River Winfree, and Judy Amanda “Mandy” Steadham of Tarkington; her grandchildren, Codie Blessing, Culley Steadham, Jake Steadham, Karlie Fregia, and husband Nick; her great-grandchildren, Lilliane, Reagan, and Bryce Blessing, Porter, Jack, Hank, and Linnie Fregia; her sisters, Dot Alexander and June Parker; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Culley Steadham, Jake Steadham, Nick Fregia, Berry Smith, Glenn Daigle, and Mark Alexander.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11am until 12pm on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street in Dayton, Texas. A funeral service will follow at 12pm at the funeral home with Bro. Jeff Day officiating. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Palms Memorial Park in Dayton, Texas.

Linella will be dearly missed but forever remembered for her warmth, strength, and love.
