Pet adoption event coming to Dayton April 6

Every year, JLA Realty in Dayton demonstrates its commitment to the community by hosting events aimed at raising awareness and supporting local initiatives. From food and shoe drives to charitable endeavors, the organization strives to make a positive impact in the community.

This year, on Saturday, April 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., JLA Realty is set to host a pet adoption and supply drive with the objective of finding loving homes for dogs and cats in shelters. The City of Dayton and the City of Baytown will be participating with a number of dogs up for adoption, and two pet rescue groups – Time is Precious, of Liberty, and Love Me Meow, of Baytown – will have other pets up for adoption, including cats.

Dirty Bay K9, of Baytown, will offer information on pet training and Snuggle Pups Studio, of Liberty, will have healthy dog treats and bandanas up for sale. Snuggle Pets Studio is committed to donating a bandana for every pet that is adopted at the event. Asa Blue, another Liberty home-based pet food supplier, will have healthy dog and cat treats up for sale.

Mo Mutts and Wild at Hearts, two grooming facilities in Dayton, will be at the event to offer advice to pet owners. Wild Soul, of Dayton, will host a booth where people can order custom-engraved dog collars and food bowls.

Additionally, attendees can take advantage of a free photo booth, capturing memorable moments with their beloved pets.

The event will be held outside the JLA office at 302 N. Church St., Dayton. Church Street will be closed on the day of the event from Depot to Cook streets. Parking will be available on Depot, Cook and other nearby streets.

In the weeks leading up to the event, JLA is hosting a supply drive of pet food, bedding, treats and toys, cat litter, training pads, blankets, pet beds, puppy and kitten milk and bottles, and bleach and detergent for cleaning the dog beds and blankets. Items can be dropped off during regular business hours, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the JLA office.

For those planning to bring their furry companions along, organizers kindly remind pet owners to keep their animals on a leash throughout the event. Poop bags will be available to help the pet owners pick up after their pets.

Tammy Pratka with JLA Realty credits realtors Alisha Cunningham and Kelsey Conner for organizing the event.

“We are praying for good weather. We have been pretty fortunate with our events in the past,” Pratka said.

Pratka emphasized that the event serves as just one example of JLA’s dedication to the communities it supports. Earlier this year, JLA reached out to public libraries in Liberty and Dayton, requesting wish lists. Since then, JLA agents have been diligently working to fulfill as many of these wishes as possible.

“We hope this year’s pet adoption and supply drive will help the community realize the sheer number of animals in our communities that need homes,” Pratka said.
