Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office identifies suspect in shooting in Porter, asks for public’s help

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into a shooting that occurred on Old Sorters Road in Porter on April 8.

Deputies were dispatched to the shooting scene around just after midnight on April 8. While en route, deputies learned that a firearm had been discharged during a disturbance,
where one male was transported by friends to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the
arm.

Once on the scene, deputies further learned a vehicle that was possibly involved in the shooting left the location. Deputies located the vehicle and discovered a person with a gunshot wound to the chest. Deputies immediately performed life-saving measures until EMS arrived, who transported the male to a local hospital.

Detectives with the MCSO Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit are seeking the public’s help in locating 37-year-old Jose Carlos Nava-Prado as a possible suspect in the case.

Nava-Prado is believed to be driving a black Ford Mustang with a Texas license place JDZ2090.

“Nava-Prado is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, do not approach the suspect or the vehicle,” the statement reads.
