
Delita Cade Mason, aged 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2024, in Kingwood, Texas. She was born on August 3, 1949, in Baytown, Texas, to the late Walter and Henrietta Watson Strahan. Delita was a woman with a heart of gold, known for her loving and caring nature that touched the lives of many.
Throughout her life, Delita dedicated herself to helping others. She was actively involved with the Angel of Mercy pantry and the CCE program at her beloved Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Her compassion and generosity shone brightly in her community, leaving a lasting impact on those she served.
Professionally, Delita had a diverse career. She retired from Houston Light and Power, where she worked in office personnel after previously serving as a meter reader. Even in retirement, her passion for contributing to education led her to work as a substitute teacher and custodian at Hardin Independent School District.
Delita is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Henrietta Strahan. She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Gary Wayne Mason; her son Terry Ewing of Crosby, Texas; her three granddaughters, Lindsay Cano and husband Daniel of Cove, Texas, Mickinze Ewing of Tarkington, Texas, and Tristin Nale-Ewing of College Station Texas; and her sister Jean Strahan. She also leaves behind six great-grandchildren, each a testament to her legacy of love and kindness.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during Delita’s visitation, which will begin at 9 am on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 411 Milam Street in Liberty, Texas. A service celebrating her life will commence at 11 am, followed by a rite of committal at Liberty Catholic Cemetery. Delita will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Condolence to those who were close to her… regretfully I knew nothing of her passing. Being her only surviving 1/2 sibling of seven, I regret we were not in touch with each other since our Mother passed 28 years ago.
