Devra Verlene Lowe

Devra Verlene Lowe, 70, of Cove, Texas, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024, in Baytown, Texas. She was born on February 19, 1954, in Houston, Texas, to the late Verlin Robert and Willa Green Yates, Devra lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to her family.

A graduate of North Shore High School in Houston, Texas, with the class of 1972, Devra was known for her vibrant personality and her love for spending time outdoors, especially doing yard work and fishing. She was an exceptional homemaker and a fantastic cook, known for running her home like clockwork and always welcoming others with delicious meals.

Devra was passionate about family genealogy, often delving into it with her great-aunt. Her love for her grandchildren and nephew Chris was unparalleled, and she was deeply committed to her family, always ensuring they were well cared for.

A social butterfly with a strong personality, Devra was honest, capable, and never held anything back. She had a knack for aggravating her husband, Kent, with whom she shared 43 years of marriage. Devra’s outgoing nature made her a beloved presence in any room she entered.

Professionally, Devra worked in human resources for KBR in Houston, where she also dedicated two to three years to contract work in Iraq. She leaves behind a legacy of hard work and dedication to her career.

Devra was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved son, Jeremy; and her sister, Janis Yates. She is survived by her devoted husband, Kent Lowe; her dear son Robert “Beau” Smith and partner, Wendy Conway of Orange; her grandchildren, Kylie Smith, Brent and RJ; beloved nephew, Chris Yates of Webster; as well as her sister Melva and husband Willie Whitehead of Carlisle; her niece DeAnna and husband Richard Wall of Diboll; her adopted daughters Erin of Bayou Vista and her daughters, Ashley, Krista, Leah and families and Beth Morgan of Conroe and her son, Daniel and his family. As well as countless friends and relatives.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 12 PM to 2 PM on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main Street in Anahuac. A funeral service will begin at 2 PM at the funeral home, followed by a graveside service and committal in Anahuac Cemetery.

Devra will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
