Outcome of May 4 election unchanged with addition of provisional and absentee ballots

The Liberty County Clerk’s Office has released the unofficial cumulative results for the Saturday, May 4, election, including the absentee and provisional ballots that were not counted on the night of the election. Of the 34,223 voters eligible for this election, only 2,836 people voted. The eligibility for voting is dependent on the person’s home address as not all entities had elections, including Hardin ISD and the City of Hardin.

The Clerk’s Office still has one mail-in ballot with a signature issue that may or may not be resolved.

“A person printed their name on the signature line instead of signing. I think we can get this resolved pretty quickly,” said County Clerk Lee Chambers, adding that the voter involved has been contacted and has a certain number of days to correct their ballot even though it will not change the outcome of any of the elections.
