From storms to the everyday emergency of hunger, Houston Food Bank is always ready to provide families in our community with the safety net needed. Through the dedication of volunteers, corporate donors, and staff, the organization has been able to offer aid to those impacted by the recent storms and flooding.
As of Tuesday, May 7, Houston Food Bank has provided the following assistance for those impacted by the recent storms and flooding:
- 78 pallets of water
- 71 pallets of emergency/disaster boxes
- 22 pallets of produce and snacks

Since the beginning of the recent storms, Houston Food Bank has been in communication with community partners and the Offices of Emergency Management (OEM) in the following counties to stay abreast of needs and the impact: Montgomery, Walker, San Jacinto, Liberty, Chambers and Trinity.
Houston Food Bank will need long-term support for recovery assistance. The public can assist in two main ways:
Volunteer
One of the biggest things Houston Food Bank needs is volunteers. Helping hands are needed to sort and box food for distribution to the community. You can come as an individual or a group – volunteering is great for networking groups, team building for companies, for families, etc.
Donate
For those who can’t donate time, donations are always appreciated. For every $1 you donate to the food bank, you provide three meals to the community.
A Text to Give number is specifically for funds to assist in the flood relief. Your gift will help provide food, water, and other necessary supplies. Once disaster needs are met, any remaining funds will go toward helping provide food for people facing hunger across southeast Texas.
