A 22-year-old Baytown man was electrocuted and died in an industrial accident around noon, Tuesday, May 14, at a property off of Private Road 171C off of FM 2830 North in the Hardin area. The accident location is near the Liberty Municipal Airport.
According to Capt. David Meyers, a spokesperson for the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, the deceased man, was delivering supplies to a tree-trimming work crew. The crew and the man worked for R & R Pipeline Company.
The deceased man reportedly grabbed the tongs of a fork lift holding up a tree. Unbeknownst to the him, the tree had inadvertently made contact with live electric lines, and he was electrocuted through contact with the forklift.
He was transported by Allegiance EMS to Liberty-Dayton Regional Medical Center with CPR in progress and was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.
Entergy Texas linemen were dispatched to the scene to shut down power while the incident was under investigation.
The deceased man’s body will be taken to Beaumont for autopsy. His identity is being withheld at this time, pending the notification of his next of kin.

Why is a pipeline company sending crews to work at a private residence!? How strange. I worked for a pipeline company for over 30 years, and wasn’t ever sent to work at a private residence! That should be illegal! I wonder if anyone will be held accountable for this young man’s tragic ending!!
Probably on a leased easement across private property.
Or an easement owned by the pipeline company. Pipelines all over the country cross “private residence” land.
The family needs to hire a very powerful law firm. They are Mithoff Law Firm here in Houston. His family will be very glad they did. Mithoff has won million $$$ lawsuits. This one sounds like a case of negligence! My friends family used them many years ago, and they got millions!
Much prayers for his family, a sad tragedy. I’m sure this will be investigated thoroughly by the authorities, but the word residence was not used in the news statement, it said a Property off of a private road. Hopefully they’ll be other clarifying details about this tragedy coming soon.
It was on private property
Hardin is not near the airport.
This tragic incident took place on a private residence and I know this to be a fact. As the person questioned above. Why would a pipeline worker be sent to a personal residence to attend to any business if there wasn’t valid reason for him to believe he needed to be there? After a bit of research …. Why is a pipeline company being run off an agriculture tax exempt piece of property? Isn’t that a federal crime?
Have they released this individuals name yet? If not can anyone answer as to why?
It was on a company employees family property. A case of paying employees with company payroll and having them work on family property. Should of never been there. Hope family sues the pants off of all involved.
