
Josephine DeCluette Sandles, a devoted servant of Christ, was called to her eternal home on Thursday, May 9, 2024. Born on December 29, 1953, she lived a life guided by faith, hope, and love, leaving behind a legacy of profound spiritual impact.
Lil’ Bit embraced the teachings of Christ with unwavering dedication, finding joy and purpose in sharing the Gospel, serving at her church and being an amazing Grammy to her grandchildren. Through her actions and words, she exemplified the fruits of the Spirit, showing kindness, patience, and compassion to all.
As a faithful member of St. Miles, she served her church community wholeheartedly, acting as secretary, helping to organize events, and creating weekly programs with care and dedication. Josephine’s compassion and warmth touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Her journey on earth may have ended, but her faith assures us that she now resides in the presence of our Lord and Savior. As we grieve her passing, we find comfort in the promise of resurrection and the hope of being reunited with her in the Kingdom of Heaven.
She is preceded in death by her Mother, Leona DeCluette, Father, Frank DeCluette, Brother, Robert L. Hamilton. Father and Mother-in-law, Deacon John and Marie Sandles.
Josephine is survived by her husband, Sam Sandles; son, Frank DeCluette (Alicia); sister, Mary M. Henderson (K.C.); brothers, Howard D. DeCluette (Beaujolais), and Leon H. Hamilton (Belinda).
Her light will continue to shine through her grandchildren, Gabriel DeCluette, Olivia Akabue, and Caiden Akabue; nieces, Sonja Mija Lewis, Alexis Lewis (Treddis), Tronique Arceneaux; great-nieces, Christian A. Young and Taryn Clark; great-nephews, Collin A. Young and Aiden Clark; along with a host of relatives and friends.
Though she may be absent from our sight, her spirit will forever dwell in our hearts, inspiring us to live faithfully and serve God with all our being. May Josephine’s soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to us all.
