On Thursday, June 6, the Dayton Chamber of Commerce held its annual Taste of Dayton, a food-tasting event designed to bring the community together with local businesses and organizations. The Dayton Community Center was bustling with activity, featuring 27 vendor booths offering a variety of food items.
This year’s theme, Family Night Games, added an extra layer of fun as each booth incorporated a different game into their presentation. For Chamber Director Sean Stockard, who has been with the Chamber since October 2023, this was his first Taste of Dayton event.
“I think it’s an absolutely amazing event,” Stockard said. “This is one of the few events in Dayton that I’ve seen that actually brings the industry, retail, service sector, and citizens all together in one place. This event meshes and brings them all together, and I think that helps build a stronger community.”

Stockard credited Kelli Savage, the Chamber’s new events planner, for putting together a seamless, seemingly trouble-free event.
“Kelli did an amazing job with this event. She’s been wonderful to have at the Chamber. She has 20-plus years in event management experience and that is what the Chamber needed. She is a professional who knows how to run events,” he said.
Participating businesses and organizations showcased their creativity through themed booths. Highlights included Chicken Express’s Jumanji-inspired decor, Liberty Health Care Center’s oversized Operation game, Rave Financial’s Twister game, and JLA Realty’s Monopoly-themed booth, which spanned four booth spaces and featured Dayton streets as part of the game.
Bear Plumbing emerged as the big winner of the event, taking home both the Best Food and Best Booth Decoration awards.

Next week, on June 11, the Dayton Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly membership luncheon at the Dayton Community Center. The luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
The topic for the June 11 luncheon will be hurricane preparedness featuring Liberty County Office of Emergency Management, City of Dayton Emergency Management and the City of Liberty Emergency Management.
