LCSO: Two teens charged after two other males shot in Cleveland

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) responded to a 911 call on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at approximately 9 a.m., reporting two men who had been shot and were fleeing the scene in a vehicle. The LCSO dispatcher directed the injured men to the Plum Grove Fire Department, located at 7733 FM 1010, Cleveland, Texas, about three miles from the incident site.

Upon their arrival at the fire department, EMS personnel immediately assessed and transported the victims to Kingwood Hospital. Patrol deputies, informed that the shooting occurred near CR 340, began searching for the crime scene. The Criminal Investigation Division was also notified and dispatched to assist.

The victims were identified as Richard Soto, 20, and Edgar Garrido, 21, both from Cleveland. Following interviews at Kingwood Hospital, investigators pinpointed the crime scene to the 200 block of CR 3408 in the Bella Vista Subdivision. A search warrant was obtained for the residence, and the Liberty County Special Response Team (SRT) was activated to execute the search.

Investigations revealed that the two victims had driven to the suspects’ residence, where they were met by three individuals — two adult males and one juvenile female — in the driveway. Shortly after their arrival, the two male suspects allegedly opened fire on the vehicle, injuring both victims. The suspects were identified as Mario Loza, 17, and Jayden Christley, 18, both from Cleveland, along with a 15-year-old female juvenile.

Mario Loza was arrested early Sunday morning, June 9, 2024, and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He is currently held at the Liberty County Jail. Jayden Christley remains at large, with two warrants issued for his arrest on the same charges. The juvenile female was released to her mother and is not expected to face charges related to the incident.

Captain David Meyers, spokesperson for the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed that “both of the victims underwent surgery shortly after arriving at Kingwood Hospital and are listed in stable condition.”

Meyers urged anyone with information on Jayden Christley’s whereabouts to contact the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at 936-336-4500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-7867, noting that Christley should be considered armed and dangerous.

  1. Thanks so much Jay Knight for these wonderful subdivisions your Commissioners Court has approved out here near Plum Grove! And you are amazing Vanesa, you managed to write this entire report without using the words “Colony” or “Ridge” even 1 single time! :-O

    • Why do they say Cleveland? Does the city limits go out that far now? They keep telling that it’s such a peaceful Neiborhood. Built them a school and soon a Law Enforcement sub station with two full time DPS. Taking good car of them. I know PG is overjoyed.

    • Right, Micheal. How the hell is this development STILL being allowed to continue expanding? Every citizen and county official familiar with the area that has a working brain knows this has been the crime ridden shithole of the tri-county area for the last 15 years. What is this, like the 100th shooting? County officials need to stop it in the name of public safety- they are failing the law abiding citizens of the area.

  2. Of course, it’s the vibrant culture of the industrious, suppressed wetback that are here only to improve themselves.
There is definitely a pattern, and rabid animals like these have no value in a civilized society.

  5. There has been so many murders in this srea that the “,drug interdiction tssk force has been assigned to work murders because lcso doesn’t have enough detectives to do the investigating. When does this shit stop. Someone is getting paid to allow this or they just don’t care about real Americans. Lock the wet back bitches ip and deport their asses. Why doesn’t law enforcement raid this subdivision and arrest and deport their asses. EHAT HAS HAPPENED TO AMERICAN LAW. Maybe we need vigilante law back. Our cops aren’t doing anything. Their hands get tied from above

  6. Danny, have you seen the DA do anything? Where are the drug raids? Check her Daddy’s involvment in the Colony Ridge saga. Should have voted her out.
