The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office urgently requests the public’s help in locating John “Jug” Burch Jr., a 48-year-old white male from Dayton, Texas. Burch was last seen on June 13, 2024, at the Kwik Mart located at FM 1409 and CR 402. Since that date, Burch’s family reportedly has had no contact with him, an occurrence they describe as unusual.
According to LCSO, Burch is known for riding a distinctive blue chopper-style bicycle with a motor kit attached. He is often seen riding this bicycle throughout South Liberty County on a daily basis. His sudden disappearance has raised significant concern among his family and the local community.
Burch is described as 5’11” tall, weighing 170 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes. He has numerous tattoos on both arms and a small tattoo on his neck.
The Criminal Investigation Division of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office has been actively searching for Burch. They have conducted several interviews over the past week in an attempt to uncover his whereabouts.
“The result of the investigation at this point has not yielded the location of Burch, however, has raised questions of possible foul play,” stated Capt. David Meyers, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office. “The LCSO Criminal Investigation Division will continue to follow up on this investigation in hopes of locating Burch.”
The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office is appealing to anyone who may have information about Burch’s disappearance. If you have any information that could assist in locating Burch, please contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 936-336-4500. Additionally, you can provide information anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-7867 (STOP).

I am a very close friend of Jugg and it bothers me so bad that Noone is really searching for him. His bike was recovered from the river why aren’t they searching the river for him??? Its almost like Noone cares. Jugg is known by so many people but only three ladies said they would help when I reached out on social media for the community to help search the river and surrounding areas. Please help us find him
his bike was in river someone ran him over and dumped him sounds like why would he throw bike in river
God be with him and his family
Really Shilee Peardon! That’s all you have to say?
Please let me and Les know if there is anything we can do to help. We love you girl.
Alicia all I can do is pray for y’all I’m not even in Texas
I am praying for his safe return, I have known the birch family all my life. My heart goes out to his family 💔😢
Me and Les are praying for Jugg to be found safe and that he comes home. Jugg has been a friend of ours for over 20 years and we are praying for him and his family. And if his sister Alicia sees this, please let us know if you need anything. We love y’all.
I was close to jugg at one time, and my heart breaks to hear this news. I pray that he is found safe. It’s sad that the search for him was so short I pray for peace and comfort for the family. Has there been any updates???
I don’t understand if his bike was uncovered in The river why don’t they search the river for him? It doesn’t make any sense for his bike to be recovered in the river and him not being in the river to. Someone has to know something because he is well know through out Liberty county by so many people. I’m just throwing this out there, but maybe y’all need to get EchoSearch that’s what they do is certain search for people that are missing. I would start there. In the last known area where they were they covered, that’s where they need to go look. I would reach out and get hold of them and find out exactly where the bike in the river was located and that’s where I would go do a search if I was in their shoes. Just saying his family needs closure hopefully safe and sound is all we can pray for. 💔😞🙏
The cops aren’t going to do shut and sweep it under the rug like always
