Mary Annette Abshier, 88, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at her home in Beaumont. She was born on November 2, 1935, in Beaumont, Texas, to the late John V. and Mary Cain Abshier.
Ann graduated from The University of Texas in 1957 and worked as a journalist for many years. She was a master gardener and enjoyed gardening immensely. Ann was a Melody Maids of Beaumont and a Gulf Coast Birders Association member. Known for her unique, witty, and intelligent nature, she never failed to amuse and entertain those around her. Her fun-loving and generous personality will be dearly missed. Though her body finally succumbed to Parkinson’s, she was truly a role model for positive attitude and mental toughness.
Her parents preceded her death: her husband, Jerry Blackstone; and her siblings, Mike Abshier, Buzz Abshier, and Candy Abshier. Ann leaves behind her stepchildren, Christopher Michael Blackstone, Carolyn Sue Blackstone, Craig Blackstone, Karen L. Blackstone, Mary McCloud Blackstone, and Russell H. Blackstone, and a host of loving family members and friends to cherish her memory.
By Ann’s wishes, she will be cremated and remembered for her fun, loving, and generous personality.
For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s honor to the Parkinsons Foundation.

Even as Parkinson’s overtook her body, she never stopped smiling and being positive…I will miss her in the garden and the MG meetings! I shed tears for her…
