Pearlie B. Wright

Pearlie B. Wright, 59, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on July 15, 2024, in The Woodlands, Texas. Born on September 23, 1964, in Dayton, Texas, Pearlie was the beloved daughter of the late Vernon Arthur Sr. and Johnnie Rodriguez Wright.

Pearlie was a proud member of the Dayton High School Class of 1983. She pursued further education at a trade school in Houston, where she obtained her Nursing Assistant certification in the 1991.

Pearlie had a passion for music, dancing, and cooking. Family gatherings were her favorite, as she cherished the role of the family chef. An avid fan of wrestling and old westerns, Pearlie also enjoyed word searches and coloring. Known for her immaculate housekeeping, she was lovingly remembered as a “neat freak.” Pearlie’s personality was vibrant and dynamic; she was a firecracker who was respectful, a bit bossy, and very funny. She lived by the motto, “If it wasn’t her way, it was the highway.”

Pearlie is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Michael Winters; and her sisters, Bernice Smith and Mary Wright.

She is survived by her loving children, Thomas Wright and his wife Sherrine Orebo Wright of Dayton, Texas, and Chantel Lashea Wright of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Santoria Lashea Presly, Jeremy W. Dean, Jr., and Christian D. Dean, all of Houston, Texas. Her surviving siblings include Sibbie Winters of Beaumont, Texas; Betty Turner of South Carolina; Sarah Wright of Austin, Texas; and Vernon Wright, Jr. of Dayton, Texas. Pearlie’s memory will also be cherished by her aunts, Alberta Royston, Lula Mae Sneed, Ethel Bee Wright, and Clara Mae Wright; her uncles, Ellis Wright, Anderson Wright, Frances Wright, and James Wright; as well as a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas 77535. The service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Calvin R. Nichols and Annette Grisby. A graveside service and committal will take place at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton, Texas.

Honoring the family as pallbearers are Vernon Wright, Jr., Arlie Rodgers, Kenneth Olige, Modie Finister, Thomas Wright, Cedric Smith, and Sam Hodges.

Pearlie B. Wright will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to her family will forever be remembered.
