Kerry Lynn Mullican Goolsby was born on Jan. 25, 1966, to parents Mary Mullican and James Mullican in Houston, Texas. She passed away on June 27, 2024, at her home in Kingwood, Texas.
Kerry spent her childhood in various parts of the Houston area and lived most of her adult life in Humble. She dedicated 20 years of her career as a bus driver for special needs students with Humble ISD, where she was known for her kindness and dedication to her students.
In mid-January 2023, Kerry’s health began to decline, and she was diagnosed with cancer in February 2023. During this challenging time, she lived with her son, Zachary Goolsby, his wife, Felisha, and their three children – Danny, Travis, and Ryley.
Kerry was a person with a big heart, always willing to help those in need. She never let anyone go hungry or stranded and opened her home to friends who needed a place to stay. Her wisdom and advice helped many friends through difficult times.
Kerry enjoyed shooting guns and spending time with family and friends. In her younger years, she loved playing sports, especially football with family members. She was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and despite her dislike for the Houston Texans, she admired former Texans fullback J.J. Watt.
She often shared words of wisdom with her son, such as, “Life will always be hard. Life is never easy, but it’s only you who can overcome it and be who you want to be.” Another of her sayings was, “Always be grateful for what you have. Never greedy,” reflecting her belief that greed was the root of all evil.
Kerry was one of four children. Her siblings included Timmy, the youngest; Jimmy, the oldest; and Pat, the second-oldest.
She is preceded in death by her father and two of her siblings – Pat and Timmy. She is survived by her mother, Mary Mullican, of Kingwood; her son, Zachary Goolsby, his wife, Felisha, of Kingwood, and their three children – Danny, Travis, and Riley; her brother Jimmy Mullican and his wife, Jennifer, of New Elm, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service with loved ones and friends will be held on Saturday, July 27, at 11 a.m. at 2217 Huffman-Eastgate Road, Huffman, Texas.
