Dayton Independent School District is excited to announce the addition of 1st Sergeant Stephen Garcia to our Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MCJROTC) program. 1st Sgt. Garcia brings with him a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to student success.
A native of Liberty, Texas, 1st Sgt. Garcia graduated from Liberty High School in 1987. Reflecting on his upbringing, he fondly remembers spending time at Ms. Cathy Harbour’s house as one of his cherished childhood memories.
In 1991, 1st Sgt. Garcia embarked on a distinguished 21-year career with the United States Marine Corps. Following his retirement from military service, he dedicated the past 11 years to shaping young minds as a JROTC Instructor with Alvin ISD.
1st Sgt. Garcia’s dedication to his students is clear: “I care for kids, and their success is my priority,” he states. His goals for the MCJROTC program at Dayton High School include fostering a sense of community involvement and helping students develop into outstanding citizens.
1st Sgt. Garcia is particularly enthusiastic about the upcoming Veterans Day program, which he is eager to lead this year.
His passion for his new role was evident on the first day of school when he arrived at DHS at 5 a.m., ready to begin this new chapter. He has already been seen around campus, connecting with students and building the relationships that are central to his approach.
Dayton ISD is honored to have 1st Sgt. Garcia join our team and is confident that his leadership will have a positive impact on our students and the community.
