Woodrow Wilson Jr. High recently welcomed a new wave of enthusiastic students at its annual Powerful Ponies Camp, designed specifically for incoming 6th graders.
The event aimed to introduce these young students to the numerous opportunities available at WWJH and to help ease their transition into middle school.
Mrs. Latesta Cox, WWJH 6th Grade Assistant Principal, expressed her excitement for the upcoming school year: “Woodrow Wilson staff are truly looking forward to this school year and the growth that each of our 6th graders will experience. Together, we will strive to be powerful every day! Transitioning to middle school can feel a bit daunting, but it also presents a wonderful opportunity to make new friends and explore various paths for your future.”

The camp was designed to show students that while the initial changes may seem overwhelming, those feelings will soon pass. Through the orientation, students were encouraged to build their confidence, navigate the campus, and get involved in school life.
The event also introduced them to WWJH’s clubs and organizations, which will help them form healthy relationships and express themselves.
Principal Ross Cullins praised the camp’s success, stating, “Mrs. Cox did a great job. We are going to have an amazing school year.”
