Bluebonnet News is excited to announce the launch of its new series of YouTube video interviews, aptly titled Bluebonnet News Business Briefs, where the purpose is to shine a spotlight on the remarkable businesses that form the backbone of Liberty County and the surrounding areas. These interviews will provide an inside look at the dedication, hard work, and community spirit that drive these businesses, allowing viewers to connect with the stories behind the storefronts.
The inaugural video features Potetz Home Center, a beloved family-owned hardware store with locations in Liberty and Cleveland, Texas. This business has been serving the community for generations, and in the interview, Louie Potetz, who manages the in-store operations, takes us through the history of the business, highlighting the values and principles that have guided their success over the years.
He discusses how Potetz Home Center has remained competitive in the face of larger, big-box retailers by focusing on customer service, quality products, and a deep commitment to keeping prices affordable for the community.
The story of Potetz Home Center wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Louie’s brother, Johnny Paul Potetz, who manages the outside operations. Together, the Potetz brothers have created a thriving business that not only meets the hardware needs of their customers but also gives back to the community in meaningful ways.
The store is often the first place where local high school students get their start in the workforce, learning valuable skills that will serve them throughout their lives. On a personal note, Potetz Home Center was the first “real job” as a teenager of Bluebonnet News publisher Vanesa Brashier.

Additionally, Potetz Home Center is an active participant in local livestock shows, where they purchase animals raised by youths and generously donate the meat to senior citizen organizations, ensuring that their contributions benefit multiple generations.
This video series is being offered first to Bluebonnet News advertisers, providing them with an exclusive opportunity to showcase their businesses. Afterward, the opportunity will be extended to other businesses in the Liberty County area and neighboring communities.
