
Mary “Beth” Buchanan passed away on Sept. 10, 2024, at her home in Liberty, Texas. Beth was born in Dayton, Texas, on Oct. 21, 1928, to Minnie Magdeline and Henry Thomas Conner. She graduated from Liberty High School in 1946.
Beth was young and active at 95 yeas old until her health declined in recent months. She enjoyed playing dominoes and cards, having lunch dates and birthday celebrations with friends. Beth enjoyed decorating her house and gardening. Her patio was always full of beautiful flowers and plants. Beth also spent many hours reading and enjoyed browsing for new books.
Beth began her career working at Vernon Poole Insurance Agency and for attorney, C.B. Cain, Jr. She has a long career at the Law Offices of Taylor & Norwood, spanning 28 years, where she formed a life-long friendship with Don Taylor.
Beth was preceded in death by her husband Dwight Lee Buchanan, her sisters Jewel Buxton, Audrey Barrow, Jessie Conner, Lois Conner, and her brother John Thomas Conner. She was also preceded in death by her nephews, Charles and Douglas Buxton.
Beth is survived by her daughter Mindy St. Clair and husband Dowe “Pete” of Cypress, Texas, her son David Buchanan and wife Karen of Liberty, Texas, and he nephew Henry Buxton, also of Liberty, Texas. Beth is survived by four grandchildren, Gina Thornton of Lumberton, Texas, Amanda Otten of Cypress, Texas, David Lee Buchanan of Lake Stevens, Washington, and Melissa Wegierski of Fieldson, Illinois. Beth was a proud great grandmother to eight great grandchildren: Gloriana Garza of Beaumont, Texas; Luke, Alice and Helen Otten of Cypress, Texas; Aiden and Avery Buchanan of Lake Stevens, Washington; and, Joey and Huck Wegierski of Fieldon, Illinois.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1pm until 2pm, on Saturday, September 14, 2024, in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Street, Liberty, Texas. A graveside service and committal will take place immediately following visitation at Fairlawn Cemetery in Liberty, Texas.
