Don José Patrocinio Saavedra Saldaña, better known as Don Patrocinio or Don Patro, a very good husband, son, father, and grandfather, died on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, in the city of Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 85. He was born on June 16, 1939, to his loving parents, Mr. Severo Saavedra and Mrs. Antonia Saldaña. Originally from Tortugas, Rayón, San Luis Potosí, a man highly respected by the people of his ranch.
Don Patrocinio was a man very loved by his family and his people since he knew how to win the affection of everyone who knew him. As many will already know, he was a horseman and a true charro, since in his youth he used to ride horseback riders. He had a very great passion for his horses, especially his horse El Pinto. Don Patrocinio’s job was to be a farmer and every year he used to plant crops in his cornfields. Also as a tradition he took all his children as children to the cornfields to teach them how to plant. He was always very proud of his sons and daughters who were always recognized as very hard-working people. Likewise, he was always very proud of his grandchildren.
In terms of music he was a great fan of songs by Las Jilguerillas, Los Alegres de Teran, Los Cadetes de Linares and among many other artists since they are old but very beautiful songs. In his free time, he enjoyed watching many films by actors such as Vicente Fernandez, Antonio Aguilar, Pedro Infante, among others and he also liked nature programs since he loved nature very much. Another of his favorite pastimes was playing cards with his children, grandchildren, and wife, and over time it became a tradition to play very often.
When the whole family got together, he became very happy and saw the large and united family that he and his wife Doña Lena had formed. He was always greatly admired by his grandchildren because they saw him as an example to follow and an idol. Because he was so affectionate and respectable, his sons-in-law and daughters-in-law looked at him like a second father and he loved them as if they were his children, too. His children loved him and will continue to love him forever because for them he was, is, and will always be the perfect father.
Don Patrocinio leaves behind a great legacy but will always be remembered on his ranch as the great gentleman he was. He will always live in the hearts of his wife, children, and grandchildren and will be remembered as the great husband, father, and grandfather that he was. Rest in peace Don Patrocinio Saavedra, the great lord of Tortugas.
Don Patrocinio was preceded in death by his parents, Severo Saavedra and Antonia Saldaña, his children Lauro Saavedra, Lauro (infant) and Rodolfo Saavedra, his siblings, Antero Saavedra, Cirilo Saavedra, Jeronimo Saavedra, Agustina Saavedra, Fidela Saavedra, Inocencia Saavedra , Angelina Saavedra, as well as her nephew Misael Saavedra.
Don Patrocinio is survived by his beloved wife, Magdalena Hernández. He also leaves behind his sons and sons-in-law who he also loved as children, Alfredo Saavedra and wife, Joel Saavedra and wife, J. Patrocinio Jr. and wife, Roberto Saavedra and wife, José Luis Saavedra, Ruben Saavedra and wife, and daughters, Griselda Escobar and husband, Rosa Saavedra and husband, Reyna Galvan and husband, Irma Aguilar and husband, Rosalba Saavedra, Lala Hernández and husband. The memory of their father will live forever in their hearts.
Don Patrocinio also leaves behind his grandchildren, Joel Saavedra Jr, Melanie Saavedra, Natalie Saavedra, Yadhira Saavedra, Joselyn Saavedra, Melissa Saavedra, Miguel Escobar, Cynthia Escobar, Elizabeth Escobar, Jacqueline Escobar, Daniela Escobar, Adrian Galván, Denisse Galvan, Anahí Galván, Alex Galvan, Marytza Perez, Isabella Perez, Alan Perez, Freddy Saavedra, Lauro Saavedra Jr., Alexis Saavedra, Félix Saavedra, Víctor Saavedra, Arnold Saavedra, Diana Saavedra, Lorenzo Saavedra, Lupe Saavedra, Beto Saavedra, Sergio Saavedra, Alma Saavedra, Andrés Aguilar, Bianca Aguilar, and many more grandchildren/great-grandchildren, who always had and will have a great love for their grandfather.
A visitation and rosary will be held on Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas from 5 – 8 p.m., with the rosary at 7 p.m. Mass will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024 at the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception in Liberty, Texas, at 9 a.m. There will be a body rosary present at the church at 8 a.m. Following the mass, burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery in Dayton, Texas. Friends and family are welcome to attend and pay tribute to this great man.
El Señor Don José Patrocinio Saavedra Saldaña mejor conocido como Don Patrocinio o Don Patro, un muy buen esposo, hijo, padre, y abuelo, falleció el Martes 17 de Septiembre de 2024 en la ciudad de Beaumont Texas a los 85 años de edad. Nació el 16 de Junio de 1939 de sus padres amorosos, el señor Severo Saavedra y la señora Antonia Saldaña. Originario de Tortugas, Rayón, San Luis Potosí, un señor muy respetado por la gente de su rancho.
Don Patrocinio fue un hombre muy amado por su familia y por su gente ya que se sabía ganar el cariño de toda persona que lo conociera. Como muchos ya sabrán, él fue un hombre de a caballo y un verdadero charro, ya que en su juventud acostumbraba andar jineteando en los coleaderos. Tenía una muy grande pasión por sus caballos en especial su caballo El Pinto. Don Patrocinio tenía como oficio ser agricultor y cada año acostumbraba sembrar en sus milpas. También como tradición llevaba a todos sus hijos de niños a las milpas para enseñarles cómo sembrar. El siempre estuvo muy orgulloso de sus hijos e hijas que siempre fueron reconocidos como gente muy trabajadora. Igual siempre estuvo muy orgulloso de sus nietos que han sido reconocidos como jóvenes de bien pensar. En términos de música él era un gran aficionado a canciones de Las Jilguerillas, Los Alegres de Teran, Los Cadetes de Linares y entre muchos artistas más ya que son canciones viejitas pero muy bonitas. En su tiempo libre disfrutaba ver muchas películas de actores como Vicente Fernandez, Antonio Aguilar, Pedro Infante, entre otros más y también le gustaban programas de la naturaleza ya que amaba mucho la naturaleza. Otro de sus pasatiempos favoritos era jugar baraja con sus hijos, nietos, y esposa, y con el tiempo se convirtió en tradición jugar muy seguido. Al juntarse toda la familia él se ponía muy contento y veía la familia grande y unida que él y su esposa Doña Lena habían formado. Siempre fue muy admirado por sus nietos pues lo veían como un ejemplo a seguir y un ídolo. De tan cariñoso y respetable que era sus yernos y nueras lo miraban como un segundo papá y al igual él los quería como si fueran sus hijos también. Sus hijos lo amaban y lo seguirán amando por siempre pues para ellos él fue, es, y será siempre el padre perfecto. Don Patrocinio deja atrás un gran legado pero siempre será recordado en su rancho como el gran señor que era. Siempre vivirá en el corazón de su esposa, hijos, y nietos y será recordado como el gran esposo, padre, y abuelito que fue. Descanse en paz Don Patrocinio Saavedra, el gran señorón de Tortugas.
Don Patrocinio fue precedido en la muerte por sus padres, Severo Saavedra y Antonia Saldaña, sus hijos Lauro Saavedra, Lauro (infante) y Rodolfo Saavedra, sus hermanos, Antero Saavedra, Cirilo Saavedra, Jeronimo Saavedra, Agustina Saavedra, Fidela Saavedra, Inocencia Saavedra, Angelina Saavedra, al igual por su sobrino Misael Saavedra.
Don Patrocinio es sobrevivido por su amada esposa, Magdalena Hernández. También deja atrás a sus hijos y yernos y nueras que al igual quería como hijos, Alfredo Saavedra y esposa, Joel Saavedra y esposa, J. Patrocinio Jr. y esposa, Roberto Saavedra y esposa, José Luis Saavedra, Ruben Saavedra y esposa, y sus hijas, Griselda Escobar y esposo, Rosa Saavedra y esposo, Reyna Galvan y esposo, Irma Aguilar y esposo, Rosalba Saavedra, Lala Hernández y esposo. La memoria de su padre vivirá por siempre en sus corazones.

Se llevará acabo una visitación y un rosario el Viernes, 20 de Septiembre de 2024 en Pace-Stancil Funeral Home en Dayton, Texas de 5:00 p.m – 8:00 p.m, con el rosario a las 7:00 p.m. La misa se llevará acabo el Sábado, 21 de Septiembre de 2024 en la Iglesia Católica de la Inmaculada Concepción en Liberty Tx a las 9:00 a.m. Habrá un rosario de cuerpo presente en la iglesia a las 8:00 a.m. Después de la misa, el sepelio será en el Magnolia Cemetery en Dayton Tx. Amigos y familiares son bienvenidos para asistir y rendir un homenaje a este gran hombre.
