Wesley Weldon Fregia

Wesley Weldon Fregia, 89, of Raywood, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, surrounded by his family at his residence. Weldon was born on Oct. 12, 1934, in Liberty, Texas, to the late Wesley Vernon and Onie Oleta Phillips Fregia.

Weldon proudly served his country in the United States Army from Jan. 22, 1954, to Jan. 6, 1956, spending time stationed in Germany. After his active duty service, he continued to serve in the Army Reserves for an additional six years.

A man with a passion for life’s simple joys, Weldon loved collecting antiques, especially old bottles and dishes, and he never passed up a garage sale. He enjoyed spending his time outdoors hunting, fishing, and gardening. Weldon’s life was marked by his deep love for his grandchildren and the values he instilled in his children. He was known for his hardworking nature, his promptness, and meticulousness. Strict where it mattered, Weldon’s tough exterior was balanced by his unwavering dedication as a father, always present for his children’s school events and supporting them in all their endeavors.

Weldon shared a passion for genealogy with his beloved wife, Lola Morse Fregia. In his younger years, he enjoyed rodeoing and worked hard in the rice fields as a boy, keeping pace with the men.

Weldon is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Margie Ann Fregia; his half-sister, Connie Thompson; and his daughter, Christy Fregia. He is survived by his loving wife, Lola Fregia of Raywood, Texas; his children, Tammie Webb and her husband Larry of Crystal Beach, Texas, and Wesley Fregia and his wife Shelly of Liberty, Texas. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Kory Earp and spouse Logan of Nederland, Texas, Kaci Earp and partner Raul Rondon of Houston, Texas, and Acie Fregia of Liberty, Texas, as well as his great-grandchildren, Gage and Sutton Earp.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the ladies at Ascend Hospice—Evette, Kay, Kathryn, Roxie, and Adrian. Your love and care over the past 10 months have meant the world to us and added so much to our lives.
