
Daniel “Danny” Ray Ross, Sr., 64, passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Baytown, Texas, on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Danny was born on October 13, 1960, to the late Sammy Ray Ross and Pearl Douzar in Dayton, Texas.
Danny had a zest for life and enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, and golfing, and he was an avid fan of the Houston Astros. He excelled at dominos, cards, and backgammon and loved the company of friends and family, cherishing every conversation and visit. Known for his mischievous sense of humor, he was also respected for his honesty and integrity.
After graduating from Dayton High School in 1979, Danny began his career with Exxon Mobil, where he worked as a specialist for 41 years before retiring. His loyalty and dedication to his work and colleagues were defining aspects of his character.
Danny is preceded in death by his beloved parents. He leaves behind his devoted wife of nine years, Julie Rae Anderson-Ross; his son, Daniel “Dustin” Ross, Jr., and Dustin’s wife, Erin; and his cherished grandson, Jenson Ross. He is also survived by his siblings, Susan and Michael; nieces and nephews Joey Griffin, John Michael Griffin, and Nicole Sarr; great-nieces and nephews Allison, Kaitlyn, and Jacob Oister, and Novie, Raeleigh, and Ellie Griffin; and stepchildren Sara Vaughn and her husband, James, Thomas Balvance, Dylan Balvance, and Alex Balvance and his wife, Sydney.
Friends are invited to visit with Danny’s family at Sterling Funeral Home’s chapel on Monday, November 4, 2024, beginning at 9 a.m. A celebration of his life will follow at 10 a.m., officiated by Brother Jeff Day. Following the service, Danny will be laid to rest in a graveside committal service at Palms Memorial Park.
