Joseph Wayne Chapman, Jr., age 58, of Dayton, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, in Dayton. He was born on July 15, 1966, in Baytown, Texas, the son of the late Leona Maxine Utt and Joseph Wayne Chapman, Sr.
A 1985 graduate of Dayton High School, Joe made his mark as a spirited baseball player during his school years. Known for his love of life, Joe was passionate about fishing, golfing, and softball, and he never turned down a good time with friends, especially when it involved a cold beer. He found joy in training horses and working with dogs in his earlier years. Joe’s friends and family will remember his quick wit, friendly nature, and a playful confidence that, despite health challenges, left him feeling as though he could still “kick your ass.”
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Robin Renee Chapman. He leaves behind his beloved children, Ryan Chapman and wife Kimberly of Austin, Kassie Chapman and companion Levi Horton of Dayton, and Laiken Wagner; his cherished grandchildren, Dean Chapman, Lane Mitchell, Jacob Geiser, and Sophie Horton. Joe is also survived by his lifelong best friend Lisa Parker of Dayton; along with many other family members and dear friends.
Joe will be missed deeply by those who knew him. His humor, warmth, and memorable personality will live on in the stories and hearts of his loved ones.
