Thelma Kelso Hearnsberger

Thelma Kelso Hearnsberger, age 95, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Nov. 24, 2024. Thelma was born on May 18, 1929, in rural Harris County, to her parents; James Melvin Hutchinson and Lillie Bell Black. She was a loving wife and mother to her three sons; Bill Jr., Jimmy, and Jackie Kelso. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be held prior to the service at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Brookside Cemetery.

Thelma was affectionately known as “Grandma” by all who loved her. She was a woman of faith, the true embodiment of kindness, love and independence. She cared for all those around her. Her house knew no stranger, and no bowl went unfilled at her table. Grandma was known for bringing people together with her home cooking. Many memories were made while gathered around Grandma’s table for Sunday dinner. She also had a green thumb. Her yard was always vibrant with blooms, which she carefully planted and tended to. While she loved her flowers, more than anything, she cherished her family. A strong woman who worked and raised her three boys. She enjoyed laughing with her siblings, a good puzzle or card game, and taking her grandchildren on adventures. There was always love at Grandma’s house.

Thelma is preceded in death by her parents, James and Lillie Hutchinson; husband and father of her children, Bryan Kelso; son, Jackie Kelso; loving husband, Billy Hearnsberger; granddaughter, Rebecca Dawn Kelso; three brothers, Melvin, Kenneth and Jim; two sisters Audrey and Gladys.

She is survived by her two sons, Bill Jr., and Jimmy Kelso and wife Brenda; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
